Provincial Outreach Program for the Early Years: POPEY Residency Opportunity K-3

School District No. 60 has been selected by POPEY for a residency project.  The project will focus on how oral language connects to and influences overall literacy development that is inclusive of all students in primary classrooms.

POPEY will share resources, supports, routines, and strategies that focus on:

• planning for high impact literacy instruction throughout the year

• ways to engage students with playful language learning experiences within a robust literacy program that supports foundational skills to nurture young readers and writers

• the importance of intentionally supporting listening comprehension through language interaction – as a key requirement for successful reading comprehension

Interested teachers are asked to email Charmaine Chretien at cchretien@prn.bc.ca or Tracey Lariviere at tlariviere@prn.bc.ca no later than September 15th to confirm their interest in the project.

POPEY would be in district for three in-person/in-classrooms sessions:  October 3-5; January 30-February 1 and April 29-May 3.
