What is the most effective way to teach reading in an early
primary classroom? Are foundational skills sufficient for students
to become fully literate? Join BC author and educator Adrienne
Gear as she explores these questions, discusses the latest trends
in reading instruction and shares her thoughts on what a holistic
reading program in the early years might look like.
Adrienne will also share ideas from her new book, Powerful
Thinking, which explores practical ways of building knowledge
and stretching thinking through content-rich interactive read-
alouds that help engage young children in the awe and wonder
surrounding them.
Adrienne will end the day with a practical unit from her book
Powerful Understanding which explores practical ways to help
children develop a deeper understanding of SELF and OTHERS.
